東京手描友禅伝統工芸士、小倉染芸３代目

東京の新宿・高田馬場で90年以上の歴史を持つ小倉染芸。神田川沿いには多くの染め工房があり、毎年2月には染の小道と呼ばれるイベントが開催。この地域に染め職人が多く移り住んだ理由は、豊富で清澄な水源が存在し、染色作業に適していたという歴史がある。

小倉隆氏は小倉染芸の3代目として、シンプルかつ繊細なデザインを追求した手描き図案を制作。紋様柄など自由な柄モチーフを創造し、配色と「朱」の色使いにこだわった作品が特徴。レディースアパレルブランドやイタリアのワインメーカーとのコラボレーションなどを積極的に行い、次世代の友禅作家として期待が集まっている。

Ogura Sengei, with over 90 years of history in Shinjuku and Takadanobaba, Tokyo, is a renowned dyeing and art studio. Along the Kanda River, numerous dyeing workshops can be found, and each year in February, an event called “Some no Komichi” (Dyeing Alley) is held. The reason many dyeing artisans migrated to this area is due to its abundant and clear water source, which was ideal for dyeing operations.

As the third-generation artist of Ogura Sengei, Takashi Ogura specializes in creating simple yet intricate hand-drawn designs. His works feature freely inspired motifs, including traditional patterns, with a focus on color schemes and the use of the vibrant shade of “vermilion.” He actively collaborates with women’s apparel brands and Italian wine producers, among others, garnering high expectations as the next generation of Yuzen artists.
