再生備前というリサイクル素材・繋がり続ける土を通じた時間と、この土のグラスを使うひとときは、大事にしたい繰り返さないその時だけの時間。
岡山県の株式会社the continue. 「 RI-CO #再生備前 シリーズ」の酒器アイテムのデザイン。

“An ‘Earthen Glass’ that encapsulates time in its design, seemingly repeating yet never repeating.”

Through the use of recycled material called “Recycle Bizen,” this glass connects with the passage of time through soil. The moments spent using this Earthen Glass are cherished, as they represent a unique and irreplaceable experience.

I designed for “the continue.,” a recycling company based in Bizen City, Okayama Prefecture.

The glass is part of the “RI-CO#Recycled Bizen Series.” Using recycled Bizen clay, it embodies the concept of time and the connection that continues through the clay. When using this clay glass, it’s a precious moment, a unique and non-repetitive time.

備前の土だけを使用したシンプルな素材で、ロック、ストレート、ホットなどに対応しています。再生備前シリーズの特徴である「釉薬や顔料を使わず焼成方法で土から色を発色させる」技法を採用。土をシンプルに焼成したivoryカラー、酸素を制限して還元焼成するgrayカラーの２色で展開します。

緻密な組成であるために比熱が大きい備前の焼き物は、保温・保冷性に優れます。また、生地の微細な気孔に含まれる空気によって酒の香りが立ちやすくなり、また空気を含んだ酒の味がまろやかになるといわれます。
焼き締め製法を守る伝統工芸備前焼に由来しつつ、再生素材ならではの新しさをお楽しみいただきたいと考えています。

The glass is made from simple materials using only Bizen clay and can be used for drinks like whiskey on the rocks, straight drinks, or hot beverages. It employs the unique technique of the Recycled Bizen Series, which colors the clay through firing without using glazes or pigments. It is available in two colors: ivory, achieved by firing the clay in a simple manner, and gray, obtained through reduction firing by limiting oxygen. 

Bizen ware, known for its intricate composition, possesses a high specific heat, which provides excellent heat retention and insulation. Moreover, the fine pores present in the clay body facilitate the release of the aroma of sake, while the presence of air in the sake contributes to a smooth and mellow taste.

While adhering to the traditional craft of Bizen ware with its firing and finishing techniques, it also brings out the freshness of the recycled material.
